A bench made from an old flax mill (a device for processing flax), an old village floorboard and a roughly processed board with tool marks. Decorated with a ring-handle from an old village cabinet. Carpentry techniques for wood processing were used, joinery joints were made by hand, wood carving. The old parts have tool marks, mounting grooves and natural chips — they added expressiveness to the item and emphasized the rough beauty, reminiscent of the simplicity and uncomplicatedness of peasant life. The image of the horse and the design were taken from a bench seen at a Vologda antique dealer, rethought and refined by the author. The natural coating of the parts is mostly preserved and only the cut areas are treated with pigmented wood oil. The bench is functional and can be used as a piece of furniture or as a decoration.
