Two editing direction projects: a remix of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, where a new 9-minute story is assembled from the original 2.5 hours, and a video essay on the culture of open source in 3D graphics. Both are built on working with existing material: in one, I reconstruct ready-made shots; in the other, I investigate how people learn from the work of others.
Reassembly
To save the factory from constant breakdowns and replace inefficient workers, the despotic Director decides to create the perfect cyborg in a human shell. However, during a secret experiment on a maid, everything spirals out of control, birthing an uncontrollable monster. Instead of a docile puppet, the city receives a ruthless iron Mistress who uses the very hands of the workers to destroy the old world and convert humans into energy for her existence.

Video Essay
This video essay explores the culture of open source and knowledge sharing within 3D graphics. It traces the journey from the Blender community’s buyout to the Oscar win for the film Flow, while also seeking answers to the question: how do you learn about things you didn’t even know existed?
