My name is Maria Valerievna Petrova. I studied at the Art and Design School, specializing in Animation and Illustration. I am applying to the Master’s program, «Contemporary Technologies in Teaching Design and Art,» because I want to learn how to teach! The program will help me become a confident specialist in the field of art evaluation and interpretation, providing an excellent foundation for my future work in illustration, concept art, art practice, and related disciplines.

After graduating from the university, I became interested in the inner workings of film production, working as a makeup artist and cosmetologist on film sets and participating in numerous projects, including major ones. However, I ultimately decided to shift my specialization to leverage my existing background as an illustrator/designer, as those around me often noted my ability to energetically and systematically break down complex information, engaging others in the learning process. Therefore, a Master’s education in teaching will be a valuable enhancement to my skills in explaining and conveying information clearly and accurately, and it will help me understand how to offer art criticism correctly.

I am ready for intensive work and understand that this program will strengthen my knowledge in not only a necessary but also a very interesting field—teaching methods for design. Thank you for considering my application.

Development of a line of small, useful treats for zoo residents. The project utilized renders of specially created 3D models and vector graphics. A collection of merchandise and advertisements, including social media post mockups, was also developed.
