The essence of the «Babylon in the Palm of Your Hand» project is to uncover the microscopic violence inherent in «translation errors» during everyday communication. Through real cross-linguistic interaction, I keenly realized that translation programs do not always serve as a bridge for communication; too often, they become an amplifier of misunderstanding. When dialogue is forced to rely on machine translation, initial emotions, intonations, and intentions are lost during algorithmic processing, ultimately resulting in an absurd everyday state. This project originated precisely from those «erroneous texts» generated by the translator on my phone during daily life.
