Simple Geometry
We represent the Ecodesign Hub association — a creative platform for promoting separate collection and recycling of recyclable materials in Krasnoyarsk and Siberia. We design and manufacture art, interior, and environmental objects for museums, institutes, and urban spaces. We actively involve volunteers, residents, and artists in sorting and applied recycling processes.
We conduct master classes on creating covers and cardholders from collected used bags. We create souvenirs, mosaics, puzzles, and installations.
A year ago, together with the V. I. Surikov Museum-Estate, we launched an equipped offline site for non-industrial production of sheet plastic from recycled materials — HDPE and polypropylene crumbs.
Here we make large sheets, from 2 mm to 2 cm thick and more, with an area of about 1×2 meters, from collected caps, bottles, canisters, bags (HDPE, LDPE, PP).

This is a great success for us :)
Before this, we worked in garages and assembled demo equipment for the «Valuable Plastic» project for classes with schoolchildren and young naturalists. We are just starting to reach the serial, or rather capsule level of products. However, we try to be cyclical in production from the very beginning; we collect the remains of sheet plastic, as well as dust — a very small fraction that remains after milling.
Having accumulated a fair amount of scraps, we came to the following conclusions:
- It would be good to use them again. They can be crushed and pressed into sheets again, losing the initial flexibility and strength of the original plastic with each cycle (in addition, additional resources / costs — electricity, thermal reactions).
- A rectangle or square can be cut out of almost any fragment after milling.
- Depending on the thickness and density, sheets of recycled plastic are able to transmit light, be elastic enough for a frame or frame.

Thus, the idea of the series «Simple Geometry» appeared, inspired partly by folk ingenuity — for example, to make a fence from boards or broken skis; partly by constructivist prouns. And in general by the desire to move forward simply and sensibly: towards circularity and environmental sustainability.

Features of products in the logic of «Simple Geometry»:
Products are assembled not using a carbon copy, but from those that are available. Such randomness determines a certain freethinking, straightforwardness and modesty of secondary material.
In larger objects (if necessary, a reinforced frame made of metal or wood is possible). In the presented screen and lamp, our plastic is mainly used.
Assembly type — detachable direct connection (bolts, hinges, rivets). The buyer is offered sets-palettes (by color and size), that is, if desired, you can combine the overall composition by fixing rectangular fragments of secondary plastic in frames with holes.
A ruler, a hot stand, a computer mouse stand — possible additional functions of some elements in the set.
