Abstract Plasticity
Abstract sculpture is an artistic direction—primarily within sculpture—where the artist forsakes the precise depiction of real objects, people, or animals, instead working with form, volume, line, space, rhythm, and texture. Abstract sculpture ≠ simply «incomprehensible sculpture.» Abstraction does not equate to a lack of meaning. An artist may intentionally omit all secondary details to leave behind a core feeling or idea.

Water Tower on Battery Hill, Vyborg

Concept
Core concept: «Greatness begins small. All life begins with water.» A droplet symbolizes the origin point—a tiny particle of water that encapsulates the potential for an entire world to emerge. It was in this aqueous environment, billions of years ago, that the first life forms arose, gradually evolving into complex organisms. At the heart of the composition is an abstract image of a mother sheltering a child. This is not a literal depiction of motherhood, but rather a metaphor for nature itself—the force that creates, sustains, and protects life. Water wraps around the figures with fluid lines, as if uniting the past, present, and future. It simultaneously acts as the medium, the protective shell, and the driving force of development.
