At the heart of the project «What If, Growing Fangs from the Seams» lies the logic of primitive animism—the attribution of living traits to an inanimate object.
The work references the archaic ritual of creating and animating a sacred object—the Montespano Bear—which is a piece of handcrafted clay covered with a wild animal hide.
The project repeats this primordial principle: fur sprouts from the seams of the patchwork blanket, real teeth protrude from the mouth, and the creature’s silhouette resembles a dog. The object exists in a liminal space, balancing between its manufactured nature and its dead organic elements, combining a crafted canvas with the use of found objects.
The boundary between artificial form and biology is blurring, forcing creation to freeze in an eternal oscillation between life and death.
